Welcome to Painted Country! We are situated on the Suffolk/Norfolk border in the historic market town of Eye. Established in 2008, we have a created a studio of vintage hand-painted furniture where our aim is to reinvent interesting , old pieces, creating a patina of age by gently distressing and finishing with waxes.
We run one-day workshops so that you, too, can learn how to 'get-the-look' on your own vintage finds.

How it all started........

The inspiration for Painted Country came about when we found ourselves being regularly commissioned to reinvent old tired pieces of furniture using specialist paint techniques. Our principal interest is 'country-style' interiors, in particular painted,distressed furniture and having spent several years living in rural France, our preferred style is very much rustic, worn & weathered - in fact the more distressed the better! Having said that, you will find all our pieces finished to a high standard - something in which we take great pride.
From all this was born our new venture selling vintage painted pieces, hopefully helping others also to create that relaxed understated lifestyle in their own homes. We paint all our pieces by hand, distressing & waxing to achieve the appearance of a naturally-aged patina. Not just any 'old' piece of furniture will do - it has to be special even before the paint is applied therefore style plays a big part in our 'creations' at Painted Country
