Chalk Paint, Wax & Varnish

At Painted Country you will find a unique water-based paint by world-renowned interiors expert Annie Sloan in many decorative and historical colours. It has been made specifically for painting furniture, floors, and when used on walls, it gives them a completely matt velvety finish reminiscent of old-fashioned limewash and distemper.
This is the perfect paint for recreating the look of French and Swedish painted furniture where the paintwork shows a patina of history. When dry, the paint absorbs wax easily giving it a mellow and protective finish.
Waxes for finishing furniture projects are also available at Painted Country - clear wax for sealing paintwork and a darker 'rustic' wax which can be used to 'antique' or 'age' pieces giving the impression of beautiful, patinated surfaces.
Alternatively, we stock 'Dead-Flat' varnishes for finishing your projects. These have a completely non-reflective, non-shiny finish - we stock one for walls and furniture and a stronger version for floors - all designed to go over our chalk paint.
